Tajamuka attempts to arrest Jonathan Moyo for corruption
Tajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign on Monday attempted to effect a citizen’s arrest on Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo at his office in Harare following indications that he diverted state funds to finance the ruling Zanu PF party’s activities.
Tajamuka spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi, told VOA Studio 7 that they wanted to effect the arrest and hand Prof. Moyo to the local police,
We wanted to apprehend Jonathan Moyo and his colleagues who have been diverting students’ funds to finance Zanu PF projects. We have realized that the country’s laws have not been properly used to arrest him and therefore as citizens we thought of arresting him and taking him to the police so that he can be tried and convicted since he has admitted that he used the money for funding Zanu PF activities.
FeedbackTajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign was unable to get into Prof. Moyo’s office as it was sealed by security agents. In turn, members of Tajamuka left some graffiti outside the minister’s office demanding his immediate arrest.
