A Mutare man, Martin Chikwanya (37) , was seriously injured on Tuesday night, after he was shot by unknown assailants travelling in 2 cars in an unprovoked drive by shooting. Chikwanya was shot three times while waiting for transport to ferry him home.
Manicaland province police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said:
Chikwanya was coming from Zimunya Township when he saw a white Toyota Noah and Honda Fit racing coming towards the bus stop. As the cars approach the bus stop, three shots hit him and he fell- down.
Chikwanya sustained wounds on the right leg thigh, left ankle, and swollen forehead and was rushed to Mutare Provincial hospital where he is receiving treatment. As police, we are appealing to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report at any police station.
The suspects are still at large.
