Speaking at a press conference in Harare last Friday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Dr Lazarus Dokora announced that Zimbabwe’s education sector has received a major boost after the Global Partnership for Education last week approved a $20,6 million grant for primary and secondary education.
Said Dokora:
The Education Sector Strategic Plan 2016-2020 as guided by the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation blueprint and the 10 Point Plan carries the burden of the new education policy, to mobilise resources from as wide as possible. Consequently, it is my pleasure to announce today that, in Siem Reap, Cambodia, the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) has approved a $20,6 million grant for primary and secondary education in Zimbabwe.
Dokora also took the time to quote the remarks by GPE chief executive officer Ms Alice Albright, who applauded the developments registered so far by the country’s education sector.
