Triangle United target Highlanders coach
After deciding not to renew David “Yogi’’ Mandigora‘s contract, Triangle are targeting Highlanders coach Erol Akbay and Zambian Tennant Chilumba who has previously taken charge of Hwange and FC Platinum but is coaching Dynamos in Zambia.
In the last four years Triangle have not had a head coach who lasts two seasons. Although coaches like Jairos Tapera, Rahman Gumbo and Masimba Dinyero are understood to have applied for the job, club sources told The Chronicle yesterday that the club management is more interested in Akbay, who impressed on his debut season in the domestic Premiership by finishing third behind champions Caps United and runners-up FC Platinum.
Akbay who is in the Netherlands on holiday confirmed that the club had contacted him and said that he will remain at Highlanders since Hwange is offering him the same offer as his current club. Akbay’s contract with Highlanders runs until 2017 and the coach is hoping that BancABC will continue sponsoring Highlanders.
