Midlands Province recorded a massive decrease in sexually transmitted infections in 2016. The number of cases decreased by 35 percent from 23 000 last year to 15 000 this year. This has been attributed to people following the health awareness campaigns launched by different organizations.
Tshebukani Moyo, the Midlands provincial maternal and child health officer in the Ministry of Health, said:
In 2013, we recorded about 28 000 STI cases, which decreased to about 23 000 in 2015 and this year we recorded 15 000 cases between January and September
