Efficiency Chirwara, a 21 -year old male from  Zvishavane stole a car and used it as a pirate taxi.  Chirwara and his 16-year-old juvenile accomplice used the taxi to ply the Maranda-Neshuro route in Mberengwa.  The two appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Shepherd Munjanja yesterday facing charges of motor vehicle theft.

In mitigation Chirwa said, they merely wanted to raise money for the holiday festivities.  However,  Munjanja dismissed their mitigation, and sentenced the pair to 12 months in prison.  The juvenile will serve his sentence at Hwahwa young offenders prison.
