The Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) has been granted tax exemption by the Parliament of Zimbabwe. This means that charity will be exempt from paying taxes, penalties and fines. The charity will also be protected from having any of its assets frozen or seized.
The treaty was unanimously ratified by the Senate on 21 December. Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa said:
Madam President, honourable members, the Global Fund supports the health sector in Zimbabwe through strengthening of health systems and fighting HIV/Aids, tuberculosis and malaria.
