Zimbabwean rescues 2 children from inferno which killed parents in the UK

Robert Chilowa, a 46-year-old Zimbabwean who works as a caregiver in Manchester, in the United Kingdom saved two children from a devastating house fire which killed their parents.    Chilowa rushed to the burning house barefoot and in his pyjamas, and asked the two children to jump into his outstretched hands.  Je was able to catch the two children successfully.   The house burned down in Withington, Manchester on Friday morning.

The parents of the two children died in the fire.  The blaze also injured four other children aged between 10 and 17.  The four are reported to be in stable condition in the hospital.  The police and fire investigators are yet to determine what caused the fire.

Speaking to The Sun, Chilowa said:

I turned around and there was this young girl there lying on the floor and she pointed at the window to say, ‘please can you save my brother and my sister – ask them to jump?’

I wasn’t scared for myself…I just didn’t want to see those little kids die.

It was so smoky and it was blazing hot so I couldn’t actually see very well.

I just outstretched my arms and shouted up to the kids ‘please jump into my hands’.

The boy jumped first and I caught him and put him on the grass. Then the girl jumped as well and I caught her in my arms
