The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has said that it will embark on a nationwide testing of borehole water to assess its quality after tests in Harare confirmed the contamination of water in some low density suburbs. The tests indicated that the water contained the Escherichia coli (E.coli) bacteria which can cause waterborne diseases and other health complications.
Zinwa public relations manager, Mrs Marjorie Manyonga said that the initial part ofthe programme started on 10 February and will end on February 25 with the main focus being Harare. She also urged borehole owners interested in being part of the assessment to contact Zinwa.
