RBZ sets withdrawal limit for tobacco farmers

Tobacco farmers will be allowed to withdrawal $1 000 dollars from their first sale and $500 for following sales as a result of the cash shortages in the country. The 2017 tobacco season starts today.

In a joint statement with the Tobacco Industry Marketing Board (TIMB) and famers’ associationa, the Reserve Bank said that tobacco farmers will be prioritised.  Large scale commercial farmers wil be required to give a day’s notice and justification for their cash withdrawals.
