The government has suspended duty on imported fertiliser and ammonia gas as it moves to prepare for the next cropping season. The suspension was issued in terms of Statutory Instrument 55 of 2017. The suspension of duty will be with effect from February 14, 2017 and last until 31 December 2017 and will apply to:
5 300 tonnes of urea
4 700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate
82 000 tonnes of ammonia gas

It is hereby notified that the Minister of Finance and Economic Development has in terms of Section 235 of the Customs and Excise Act (Chapter 23:02), made the following regulations: These regulations may be cited as the Customs and Excise (Suspension) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017 (No. 168).
