Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) founding elder, Rugare Gumbo has said that his party will not join Morgan Tsvangirai’s proposed coalition because it will not be effective.
Said Gumbo:
We will not be part of such a coalition which came about through a rushed process without the consultation of stakeholders, including war veterans, the business community, civic society and social groups . . . because it will not yield the change that Zimbabweans are yearning for.
Gumbo’s comments come after Tsvangirai’s MoUs with Welshman Ncube and Joice Mujuru; who recently left ZimPF to form her own National People’s Party (NPP) following disagreements with Gumbo and Didymus Mutasa. Responding to Gumbo’s comments, MDC-T’s spokesperson Obert Gutu said the ZimPF founder got it wrong and that no genuine political party has been excluded from the talks.
