Addressing a public lecture on Command Agriculture at Midlands State University yesterday, Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that the government programme is not based on the similar programmes done by the former Soviet Union or Cuba as no one is forced to join the programme.
Said Mnangagwa:
People are not compelled to come to this programme, they voluntarily do so. It’s not command in the sense of the Soviet Union or Cuba as people come and leave as they please. It’s only that when you decide to join the programme, we as government support you on certain set conditions.
FeedbackHe said that the programme is meant to substitute grain imports through increased agricultural production and productivity.
