SA hunter crushed to death by elephant near Hwange National Park

Theunis Botha (51) a South African big game hunter died on Friday afternoon after being crushed by a cow elephant. The incident happened at Good Luck Farm near Hwange National Park. Botha and his clients accidentally walked into the middle of a herd of breeding elephants. Three of the elephants charged at the hunters and Botha is reported to have fired a shot. However, an elephant which approached from the side caught Botha by surprise and lifted him, up using her trunk. Unfortunately, the elephant collapsed on top of Botha and crushed him to death after it was shot by one of his clients.

Mr. Botha was close friends with Scott van Zyl, 44, who was killed by crocodiles while hunting in Zimbabwe last month.
