Mugabe accused of under developing Matabeleland by deploying "known thieves and failed leaders"

Zapu secretary for economic affairs, Mark Mbayiwa has accused President Robert Mugabe of deliberately under developing the Matabeleland region by deploying failed leaders and thieves in that area. Addressing a rally in Tsholoptsho North on Saturday Mbayiwa said:

One thing is common with all the deployees of Mugabe that they all sold out Zapu in one way or the other during and after the liberation struggle.

(Vice-President Phelekezela) Mphoko deserted Zapu in 1976, with the likes of (Bulawayo Provincial Affairs minister Eunice) Sandi Moyo, (Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs Cain) Mathema, (Umguza MP Obert) Mpofu joining Zanu PF in the early 1980s at the height of Gukurahundi.
