Dokora grilled for introducing agriculture at primary level without providing teachers

During Wednesday’s question and answer session in the National Assembly, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Lazarus Dokora was criticised for introducing agriculture at primary level and not providing teachers for the subject.

Highfield legislator Erick Murai asked how schools were going to teach the subject when there are no teachers to which Dokora responded that not aall schools were lacking in agriculture teachers. He also said that teachers are now being deployed in relation to their specialisation during their college days. Proportional Representation legislator Mable Kaundikiza wanted to know why there was a disparity between the numbers of teachers in urban and rural areas. Dokora said that his Ministry is not responsible for staffing teachers.

This prompted Mabvuku-Tafara legislator James Maridadi who then said Dokora acted wrongly by introducing agriculture without consulting the ministry responsible for hiring teachers.
