Cde Chinx's family snubs Zanu-PF's liberation war status, to bury Chinx at Glen Forest
Family spokesperson Mr Dick Chingaira (Junior) yesterday told The Herald that they were going to bury his late father at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare today.
Chingaira (Junior) said that the decision to bury him at Glen Forest was reached in consultation with Government. According to the norm Chinx was supposed to be buried at Harare Provincial Heroes Acre near Warren Hills Cemetery. However, the decision to bury the lat war veteran comes at a time when reports state that his family rejected the liberation war hero status and were demanding him to be made a national war hero.
Also, Buhera South legislator Joseph Chinotimba made attempts to have Cde Chinx Chingaira’s hero’s status reviewed. Chinotimba was unhappy that Cde Chinx had been denied the honour yet some other Zanu-PF members who were not involved in the liberation war were buried at the National Heroes Acre.
