Zimbabwe Knocked out of CHAN on penalties despite beating Namibia 1-0

The Zimbabwe men’s senior football team, the Warriors, were knocked out of the African Nations Championship (Chan) after losing a penalty shoot out 4-5 to Namibia in the second leg of the Chan qualifiers which was played at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.   Prince Dube scored the games’ only goal in the 39th minute to give the Warriors a 1-o lead and to level the tie 1-1 on aggregate as Namibia won the reverse encounter by the same scoreline. Apart from that moment of brilliance, Zimbabwe had a largely forgettable day at the office.  The Warriors were unable to extend their lead in normal time and the game ended tied on aggregate.  As a result,  the outcome of the game had to be decided by the lottery of penalty kicks. Namibia converted all their spot kicks while Rusawo missed one for Zimbabwe.
