The mooted coalition between Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T and Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party is reported to have collapsed over a lack of trust as well as a disagreement on the allocation of seats for next year’s harmonised elections. The MDC-T is reported to have written to Mujuru informing her of this.
A source from the MDC who spoke to NesDay said:
The possibility of a coalition between Tsvangirai and Mujuru is dead in the water.
Mujuru wants an equal share of seats even in urban settlements, which are our traditional strongholds.
But we think what she is supposed to bring to the table is the rural vote.
If indeed she walked away from Zanu PF with some sort of support, then she needs to bring with her at the very least the Mashonaland provinces (East, West and Central).
