Robert Mugabe arrives in South Africa
President Robert Mugabe is in South Africa where he is expected to attend the 37th Sadc Heads of State and Government Summit which runs from August 19 to 20. He arrived in Pretoria last night. In his absence, Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko will be the acting president.
The summit will be preceded by a Double Troika meeting on Friday. The summit is running under the theme: “Partnering with the private sector in developing industry and regional value-chains”. South African President Jacob Zuma will assume the Sadc chair and takes over from King Mswati III of Swaziland.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is also in South Africa where he is receiving treatment after falling ill during a Zanu-PF youth rally in Gwanda on Saturday. First Lady Grace Mugabe is also in South Africa where she is accused of assaulting model Gabriella Engels on Sunday.
