South Africa’s International Relations Minister Maite Nkona Mashabane has been summoned by Parliament’s International Relations and Cooperation Portfolio Committee to explain her decision to grant Zimbabwe’s first lady Grace Mugabe diplomatic immunity.
This comes after the Democratic Alliance (DA) successfully applied to Committee Chairperson Siphosezwe Masango asking for the minister to be called. DA Spokesperson Stevens Mokgalapaa says the committee agreed unanimously to call her. Mokgalapaa argues that granting Grace Mugabe diplomatic immunity only after an assault complaint was laid against her by model Gabriella Engels, was highly irregular.
