Do not associate with Mutsvangwa, Mugabe warns Mnangagwa
Speaking during a Zanu-PF Presidential Youth Interface rally held at Chipadze Stadium in Bindura on Saturday, President Robert Mugabe advised Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa not to associate with the Christopher Mutsvangwa led Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA).
Mutsvangwa’s faction of the war veterans have been publicly rallying behind Mnangagwa to succeed Mugabe despite the Vice President not acknowledging them as allies. Said Mugabe:
Ava vakomana ava (Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterns Association leaders) vari kupengereka hameno kuti chavari kupengerekera chii. Kana achinzi masupporters aVaMnangagwa vasingazivi kuti Constitution yedu yakamira sei, vanofanira kudzidziswa. (What are these war veterans clamouring about? Even if they are Mnangagwa’s supporters don’t they know the party’s constitution?)It is a pity kuti they have decided to go that way, but we should not support them and it is right and only right that we should never entertain them. They are wrong and they have been punished by the party and we should not entertain them. Kana vave kuda kudzoka vanoziva gwara, vanoziva kokuenda to place their pleas, kuti haaa takaona zvakati hatingarambe tiri kunze tava kuda kudzoka kuparty but hatingavadaidzi isu kuti come and be associated with us. No. It is completely wrong saka I hope vaMnangagwa you take that advice into account. Give them the languish if they want to languish in the dark where they chose to be. We do not pay them to come back.
