In a telephone interview with The Chronicle, Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere said that the non-inclusion of locals in the Lupane local board Commissioners was an oversight.
He said that he would look into the matter and come up with a locally acceptable solution. Said Kasukuwere:
We have heard the concerns of the people and we are looking into ways of addressing the matter. I am in Gwanda and once I am back in the office, we will take action to see to it that Lupane people are also engaged in such processes. We are looking at the matter. We will try to bring all interested parties on board and bring about a fair and locally acceptable solution to the oversight.
Lupane residents petitioned Kasukuwere challenging the appointment of Lupane District Administrator Mrs Ennety Sithole and Lupane State University Vice Chancellor Professor Pardon Kuipa as local board commissioners.
