Kwese TV has NOT yet won legal battle against BAZ

Contrary to some reports circulating on social media, Kwese TV’s content distributor, Dr Dish has not won the case against the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe. No decision has been given yet on the case. Dr Dish executive chairman, Nyasha Muzavazi, confirmed that the court cases are still pending.

Kwese TV had to suspended broadcasting last week after BAZ filed an appeal at the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe challenging High Court judge Justice Charles Hungwe’s decision to allow Dr Dish and Kwese TV to continue broadcasting until the matter was fully resolved. The appeal had the effect of suspending, Justice Hungwe’s provisional order.

Dr Dish then filed another urgent application at the High Court seeking permission to continue operating until the Supreme Court appeal was heard and resolved. The case is still pending.
