Minister of Commerce and Industry Mike Bimha has claimed that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe, insisting that the economy was on the rebound and that the economy was going to grow by 3 percent. When taken to task about how there could be a rebound when people are losing jobs while those employed are going months without salaries, Bimha said the economic turnaround was not about salaries. Said Bimha
Turnaround is not just a question of having salaries all the time, even in good times, you don’t have salaries all the time.
The economy has ups and downs when you have ups things have to change when you are on a downward trend, things have to change, these are the vicissitudes of every economy. There are ups and downs at any point in time. But at the end of the day when we look at the indicators, some of the multilateral institutions are on the rebound.
