The National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) has appealed for more people to donate blood group “O” after noting that stocks are at very low levels. There is a high demand for blood group “O” due to the fact that it is the universal donor group.
The National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) public affairs manager, Esther Masundah added that the NMSZ was involved in talks with the Ministry of Health and Child Care to lower the prices of blood.
At the moment, a pint of blood goes for US$100 in public hospitals and US$120 in private health institutions.
