"Grace is not Mugabe's preferred successor" says Prof Tendi, cites Mugabe's stance towards female politicians
Associate Professor in African Politics at Oxford University, Miles Tendi said that he does not think that Grace Mugabe is President Robert Mugabe’s preferred successor. He cited Mugabe’s handling of female Zanu-PF members saying that it has always been sexist and misogynistic.
Tendi also said that despite claims that it is now obvious that Grace will succeed Mugabe the succession race is far from over. Said Tendi:
There’s been talk from people who say potentially it’s Grace who will take over, it’s in the bag now. My response to that is always with Mugabe’s attitude towards women. Mugabe’s handling of female party members and cabinet members has always been sexist, misogynistic. Time after time, it is clear that he doesn’t relate to women much as capable political leaders. So I don’t think Grace is his preferred successor.
