President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that his first 10 days in office as the country’s head of state have been taxing. However, the President was upbeat on the challenges ahead saying that the team of Cabinet Ministers that he had picked was up for any challenge. The President revealed this when he addressed journalists after swearing in his first cabinet at the State House on Monday.
Said Mnangagwa
The first 10 days of my tenure have been tough, they have been hectic but it’s a job that needs to be done. My team will have to stand the challenge.
I want the people to remain united as we grow our economy.
President Mnangagwa announced his first Cabinet on Thursday night, although he was forced to make adjustments to the cabinet barely 48 hours to comply with the Constitution. Mnangagwa had named more than 5 non-parliamentarians as ministers. He ended up dismissing the much-maligned Lazarus Dokora as well as reassigning three other ministers.
The cabinet selection itself, has not been well received by some sections who argue that Mnangagwa just recycled the same people who had a proven track record of failure under former President Robert Mugabe.
