Zanu-PF Will Reform Itself And Embrace A Culture of Tolerance Says Matemadanda

New appointed Deputy Minister for War Veterans and Zanu-PF Political Commissar, Victor Matemadanda has promised that under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zanu-PF was going to reform itself. He said the ruling party was going to respect people with divergent views instead of treating them as enemies.

In an interview with NewsDay, Matemadanda said:

Maybe we have been having wrong people playing wrong roles in politics.

People think when given a chance to speak, they must scold those in the opposition and demonise those with divergent views. That is not what we want in politics.

…We don’t want a scenario, where only one person wants to sell alone at a market. This is the approach that we have.

As war veterans, we fought to liberate the country and we want to give direction now.”

As we are at the moment in Zimbabwe, there is nothing called an enemy, we have political opponents and it’s healthy for democracy.

In the past Zanu-PF and war veterans were accused of perpetrating acts of violence in order to make sure that former President Robert Mugabe remained in power.
