G40 Members, Zanu-PF MPs Speak On Reports They're Part Of Mutinhiri's NPF

Several Zanu-PF legislators and ousted G40 members spoke on The Herald’s reports that they are members of the new political outfit New Patriotic Front (NPF) which is being led by Retired Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri. The party has been endorsed by former President Robert Mugabe who met with Mutinhiri at his Blue Roof residence in Borrowdale.

Makhosini Hlongwane and Walter Mzembi distanced himself from NPF with Hlongwane saying he would today issue a joint statement with his colleague on the matter. Said Hlongwane:

We are preparing a comprehensive joint statement with my brother, Dr Mzembi responding to the media reports linking us to that political outfit. It is unfortunate that the stories were published without seeking our comments.

Former Bikita South MP Jeppy Jaboon said he was not aware of the existence of NPF and wondered how The Herald had linked him to the political party. Said Jaboon:

I am dismayed that The Herald has not checked and verified its intelligence source alluding to the formation of NPF whose conscription include people like me and other comrades whom I know are equally disappointed with the reckless name dropping into the structures of this party. I for one was expelled from Zanu-PF and am not part and parcel of the formation of this outfit
