In an interview with ITV News Africa Correspondent John Ray last week, former President Robert Mugabe said his successor President Emmerson Mnangagwa is an unforgiving person who is only satisfied after seeking revenge on his offender.
Mugabe’s comments come after Mnangagwa ascended to power after a military intervention code-named Operation Restore Legacy in November last year. Mnangagwa had been fired from Government by Mugabe before the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) led by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga forced the former Zanu-PF leader to tender his resignation. Said Mugabe:
He has got his own character. And its a character I perhaps did not quite see or know about him. That of not forgiving. If a person stepped onto his shoe, on his toe he will go after him.
