President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has released the invoices for hiring the private plane for last week’s state visit to China. This comes after the government was criticised for hiring a private plane at an alleged cost of $2.3 million. The government was also criticised for including the sons of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Lieutenant-General (retired) S.B Moyo in the business delegation. However, the government insists that it spent only $1.4 million on hiring the plane, a figure which it claims is lower than the $1.9 million which had been demanded by Air Zimbabwe. Last week, presidential spokesperson, George Charamba, said that the trip would bring in billions of dollars and that people were being petty by focusing on the fee for hiring the private plane.
