Khupe Expels Chamisa From MDC-T, Asks Parliament To Expel Him
The drama continues in the opposition after former MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe wrote to the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, advising him to expel MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa from Parliament. She claimed that the MDC-T had recalled Chamisa as a legislator. This comes after Khupe herself was expelled from Parliament after Chamisa’s MDC-T recalled her from the party.
Part of Khupe’s letter Written to Mudenda reads,
This letter serves to formally advise your office that Hon Nelson Chamisa is no0 longer a member of the MDC-T party that is current;y being led by acting president Thokozani Khupe.
FeedbackHon Chamisa’s membership of the party has been terminated after he has willfully and deliberately violated the constitution of the MDC-T by passing himself off as the president of the party.
Obert Gutu, who was also expelled from the MDC-T alongside Khupe said:
I can confirm that our leader, Dr Khupe, wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly to ask him to recall Mr Chamisa from Parliament. We feel this is the right thing to do and in line with the constitution of the party. We respect the Speaker of Parliament to respond promptly and act according to our request because Madam Khupe is the legitimate leader of the MDC-T.
