Grace Mugabe Assault Case: South African High Court Sets Date For Hearing
The North Gauteng High Court will hear an application challenging Grace Mugabe’s diplomatic immunity between May 10-11. This was revealed by AfriForum a South African civil rights group which is representing model Gabriella Engels. Engels was allegedly assaulted with an electrical extension cord by Grace last year at a Sandton Hotel after Grace found her in the company of her sons Robert Jr and Chatunga Bellarmine last August.
Despite Engels’ best attempts to get justice, Grace was granted diplomatic immunity by the South African government’s Department of International Relations and Co-operation. AfriForum is challenging the immunity and has indicated that they will proceed with private prosecution if the South African National Prosecuting Authority does not wish to prosecute grace.
