Mighty Warriors Receive R250 000
The women’s national soccer team, the Mighty Warriors, have received R250 000 for finishing second in the 2017 COSAFA Women’s Championships. The tournament which was held in Bulawayo last September was won by Banyana Banyana of South Africa. The prize money was handed over by broadcaster Kwese TV during the 2018 COSAFA Cup draw in Jo’burg, South Africa.
The Prize money is as Follows:
- 1st Place: R500 000 – South Africa
- 2nd Place: R250 000 – Zimbabwe
- 3rd Place: R150 000 – Zambia
- 4th Place: R100 000 – Kenya

This comes as welcome news after the Mighty Warriors received a paltry $5 each after their game against Namibia and have vowed not to leave Zifa Village until they get their full dues.
