Nurses Strike: Citizens Write Letters To Chiwenga Expressing Their Concerns

As the fallout from Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s decision to fire all the nurses who engaged in a strike, post boxes have been deployed across Harare to allow citizens to express their concerns. Some of the boxes are located at Africa Unity Square, First Street and Parirenyatwa Hospital. The campaign has been given the names #DearVP, #BringBackOurNurses. According to organisers of the campaign, the letters will be delivered to Vice President Chiwenga. People outside the capital have been asked to air their views using the #DearVP.

The nurses have vowed to take the matter to the courts if the Health Services Board (HSB) moves to implement Chiwenga’s directive.  The vice president has also received considerable criticism from many quarters for the way he handled the situation.
