You Can Only Bleach Your Skin But Not The Health Sector: Zinasu Tells Chiwenga
The Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) yesterday attended the protest held by the Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZiNA) at Africa Unity Square in Harare. Zinasu said it is ready to mobilise students in support of the nurses’ strike.
Addressing nurses at Africa Unity Square, a Zinasu representative said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business” mantra is useless if the health sector is in shambles. He also said the dismissal of nurses by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga undermines independence. Said the Zinasu representative:
Zimbabwe can’t be open for business when it’s closed for health. We are sending a very clear message not only to Chiwenga but to his friend [Emmerson] Dambudzo Mnangagwa. Matambudziko ake ngaamabvise ku health sector yedu. We can’t be independent if our health sector is not independent. You don’t impose things on people. These nurses are struggling so that they can earn a living. Their children are not going to school. Some of us cannot pay fees because our parents are not earning enough. If you want to go to State House we will mobilise students for that. We are going to die for that because we have died many times we cannot continue dying. We are going to stand in solidarity with you to the very last end.
