The insurance industry in Zimbabwe is working on establishing the Zimbabwe Insurance Crimes Bureau (ICB) to prevent and investigate cases of insurance fraud. At the moment, the insurance companies use internal teams to investigate suspicious claims. Commons forms of insurance fraud include false claims for accidents, deaths thefts as well as altering the dates of the claims.
Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) technical manager, Nicholas Sayi said,
We are setting up an independent bureau to assist the industry to prevent (fraud) and if they do happen, then investigate the cases.
