in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com, MDC-T spokesperson Thabita Khumalo revealed that party leader Nelson Chamisa had reached out to Harare West legislator Jessie Majome but would not give details. Majome announced that she will be contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections after withdrawing from MDC-T primary elections citing irregularities.
Khumalo also indicated that although Majome has automatically expelled herself from MDC-T by deciding to contest as an independent, they wanted to resolve the issue amicably. Said Khumalo:
I had the opportunity of seeing Hon Majome speak to President Chamisa at Parliament but unfortunately am not privy to the discussion. However I am sure something positive will come up. She is our MP and this is a period of madness, people are using their hearts rather than brain. We need time to find each other and we will.
In an interview on Capitalk on Tuesday night, Majome said a senior official in Chamisa’s office, Mr Sessel Zvidzai, phoned and indicated that he (Chamisa) wanted to meet her.
