First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa has been appointed as the ambassador for child and maternal health by the Ministry of Health and Child Care. This follows the first lady’s efforts to promote access to health for women and children. Said Health Minister, David Parirenyatwa,
The First Lady came to us at an opportune time. She expressed a willingness to support the cervical cancer screening programme. Through her outreach services, our screening programme literary shot through the roof.
Acknowledging her role, the first lady said,
I deliberately made a lot of noise hoping to get the attention of the Health Minister.
