Zanu-PF Slams Biti For Suing ZEC, Chigumba Over Pro-Mnangagwa Presidential Ballot Paper
Zanu-PF point person on elections, Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana, criticised the decision by the Tendai Biti led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to sue the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and its chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba over the design of the presidential ballot paper.
Biti wants the Electoral Court to issue an order for the redesign of the presidential ballot paper which he alleges was designed to favour President Emmerson Mnangagwa. However, Mangagwana questioned why the PDP which was not contesting in elections had challenged the design of the presidential ballot paper. PDP is contesting under the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance. Said Mangwana:
Zec gave specimens of the actual ballot papers to parties, so those who want to test for magic or unexplained vote mutations or migrations can do so. It was noted that they had been given the blank ballots in the past for further testing. There was no objection to the configuration of the ballot itself, but it was noted that a party not taking part in the elections called PDP had made a court application challenging the current candidate configuration on the presidential elections ballot paper design.
