Chiefs In Masvingo province have demanded free wifi installation at their homesteads so that they stay in touch with their people and are well informed. Chief Murinye encouraged the government to make sure that all the chiefs are technologically connected. The Chiefs tabled their demands during a meeting with Ezra Chadzimira the new minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Masvingo.
Said Chief Murinye:
We need the internet because the bundles from service providers are very expensive. We cannot afford to buy the bundles hence we are kept in the dark over the developments in our areas.
The government gave us cars so that we can be able to navigate across the whole chiefdom but in the 21st century, we need to also interact with our people online.
The internet will not only benefit the chief but the entire chiefdom. Every person will be free to come and log in to the internet because we want to create a digitally connected people
