Socialite Pokello Nare has filed a notice of opposition after she was served with divorce summons by her husband of three years, Ghanaian Elikem Elikem Kumordzie. Though his lawyers, Mahuni Gidiri Law Chambers, Elikem told the High Court that the marriage has irretrievably broken down such that there are no prospects for reconciliation. He also offered to pay maintenance of $500 per month for the upkeep of the couple’s minor child and asked for reasonable access to the child.
Part of Elikem’s court papers read,
The plaintiff (Elikem) and defendant (Pokelo) have not stayed together as husband and wife for the past one year since September 2017 and such is regarded by plaintiff to be incompatible with the continuation of a normal marriage relationship. As a result of the above, the plaintiff has lost love and affection to the extent that there are no prospects for reconciliation due to the irretrievable differences between the parties…Plaintiff avers that he will maintain the minor child by paying $500 per month.
Responding to Elikem’s petition, Pokello said,
Be pleased to take note that the defendant has entered an appearance to defend the above action on this 28th day of September.
