Zanu-PF has suspended National Youth league Secretary for External Affairs Sibongile Sibanda over allegations of abuse of office.
Sibanda (35), from Bulawayo Province, is alleged to have accumulated hotel bills on activities that were not sanctioned by Zanu-PF. In a letter seen by The Chronicle, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Obert Mpofu, said Sibanda has been suspended from conducting Zanu-PF business pending investigations into her alleged misconduct. Part of the letter reads:
This letter serves to inform you of your immediate suspension from all Zanu-PF activities pending the finalisation of investigations into your conduct. Accordingly, you are required to immediately surrender all Party properties in your possession to the appropriate departments. Further all unauthorised expenditure by you on hotel lodgings and other related activities will be in your personal account.
In an interview with The Chronicle yesterday, Mpofu said Sibanda was set to appear before a disciplinary hearing but he did not disclose the exact reasons that led to her suspension.
