Sekuru Banda Speaks Against Gender Based Violence

Renowned Traditional healer Sekuru Banda has spoken against the high prevalence of gender-based violence whilst engaging the community in Epworth. He urged families to respect the sacredness of the family institution and the importance of a functional family as the nucleus group responsible for community and national development.

Said Banda:

80% of the people (female) who consult me are affected by marital issues and victims of gender-based violence. My message to them has and is always clear and revolves around solving domestic disputes amicably without resorting to violence.i believe that a healthy relationship is built on trust and communication. If communication fails partners should seek counselling, if counselling fails in the event that they are no prospects of peace and harmony in place, people should seperate before one partner or both commit crimes related to domestic violence. Faithfulness should also be championed among partners to avoid unnecessary squabbles that lead to violence. Traditional healers have a crucial role to play in community development and preservation of tranquillity, I urge the government to engage traditional healers in the fight against gender-based violence.
