At least two people died and seven others left in critical condition after succumbing to pressure during a 10 km run that was a pre-requisite in job recruitment at the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) in Harare on Tuesday.
The two died at Parirenyatwa hospital yesterday after suffering health complications during a selection road run at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport. CAAZ confirmed the deaths when contacted by The Herald and said the families of the deceased had been informed of their deaths. CAAZ said the recruitment was part of its efforts to equip its Aviation Security Department.
An inside source told the Mail and Telegraph that twelve people who were listed candidates for security personnel posts, fainted during the course of the 10km run around mid-day on Tuesday. The source said the twelve were rushed to Parirenyatwa Group Of Hospitals and two of them later died.
