Jah Prayzah Did Not Remove Me From Stage
In an interview on Power FM, Gary Tight blamed promoters who did not give him a chance to perform at Oliver Mtukudzi’s send off concert.
Tight cleared speculation that Jah Prayzah robbed him of his chance to perform as the late music icon’s body left for 1 Commando barracks. Said Tight:
I see Jah Prayzah as my elder brother and when I posted on social media complaining about what happened on Saturday I wasn’t referring to him. Jah Prayzah stood with me before no one recognized Gary tight. There was no show, back in the day, that I curtain raised for Jah Prayzah and got anything less than $250. I had been tipped by Tuku music management to perform my song “Ndizarurire” as Dr. Tuku’s body was being carried out of the National Sports Stadium. However, the show promoters probably did not see me worthy to grab that limelight.
FeedbackOne of the promoters Chipaz told H-Metro that they are very apologetic to artistes who did not get the chance to perform at the concert. He said Gary had to be removed because of the schedule. Said Chipaz:
On behalf of other promoters we apologise to those artistes who did not get the opportunity to perform. To us an artiste is an artiste we treat you equally. As for Garry, we had tight instructions as per programme that the body had to leave at exactly 3pm and we had agreed as promoters that the song Ndakuenda by Dr Mtukudzi had to be performed and we had liaised with Jah Prayzah kuti paisimuka Presidential guard crew kunotora body the song automatically had to be played and we had no option but to let Garry step down and perform later after the tight programme.
