Battlefields Mine Disaster: 5 Miners Rescued

Five artisanal miners were rescued today after being trapped underground for about four days at Battlefields mines in Kadoma. The first two were retrieved at around 7 am today.

Yesterday, President Mnangagwa declared a state of disaster the Silver Moon and Cricket Mines disasters in Kadoma. As a result of the declaration by President Mnangagwa, the government will assist in the burial of all the victims.

It is suspected that the number of victims in the two mine disasters could be between 60 and 70. Some eyewitnesses believe that the number could be as high as 100.
