President of the Democratic Alliance, Daniel Shumba said that the threat to go after doctors and lawyers issued by President Emmerson Mnangagwa over the weekend is an insult to the anticipated dialogue. Said Shumba:
This a serious indictment on the President and an insult to the anticipated National Dialogue. You can not allow a President to threaten a nation with brutality. Cry my beloved Country. This is the totally wild west, a negation of the tenets of constitutionalism and rule of law.
Mnangagwa last week invited all losing presidential candidates during the 2018 election for a meeting at State House to come up with a framework for dialogue.
However, eminent political figures such as MDC Alliance’s Nelson Chamisa and former Deputy President Joyce Mujuru did not turn up for the meeting.
