The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) says it has received applications from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) for an upward review of tariffs.
This was revealed by Potraz acting director general Kennedy Dewera, who was speaking on behalf of his boss Gift Machengete on Thursday. Said Dewera
Indeed, we have received those applications from various operators and these are still being considered by the authority.
You may be aware that there have been developments in the economy and those developments impact on the decisions to be made by the regulator.
So these factors are still being looked at within the timeframe that the regulator can consider them. It is difficult to give the exact time when we can expect a final position as the process isn’t entirely up to the regulators, we have to consult extensively. But when the analysis has been done it will be taken to the operators.
